ANIMATED ALBUM COVERS
+ Motion Graphics + Album Art
+ Social Media +Personal Project
A ongoing series of animated album covers paying homage to some of my favourite artists. Covers were picked, first and foremost as designs that I feel resonate particularly well with the concept of the album and simultaneously adapt well to being animated. All original art of the covers featured belongs to the musicians and designers in each case respectively. A big thanks to all of those creators who provided me with the means to pursue this project.

LIVE WITH LESS
+ Motion Graphics + Typography
+ RSA + Sound Design
A one minute animation for the RSA shorts 2016 project to accompany and elaborate on a speech by Richard Sennett. The piece consists of animation and sound design by yours truly.
Investigating into the brief, I first researched into climate change and how present day consumerism relates to the subject. My research took me to methods of reducing our carbon footprint via green energy sources, campaigns against deforestation and offsetting carbon production. It quickly became apparent that these technologies alone can not combat climate change. The only true way to cut carbon emissions is to consume less; using fewer resources to manufacture goods and reduced fossil fuels to power them.
My animation aims to provoke thought about how much we consume in an easily understandable way that also touches on widely understood symbolisms related to climate change. Morels can be changed at any age, but are particularly important as we grow up, therefore my audience starts at 10 and spirals upwards. In order to appeal to all of these people, the animation has been designed to be engaging and conceptually recognisable by any viewer. This means simple imagery based on vibrant typographic interpretations and universal hand gestures. From a visual perspective the animation uses colour and shifting shapes to transition from scene to scene with fluidity; for instance using an outline of a thermometer to visualise climate change, which then evolves into the tittle of an i.

THE FLYING FISH
+ Interactive App + VR Headset
+ Motion Graphics
An interactive VR narrative app that utilises a branded Google Cardboard headset to convey Kurt Schwitters' Merz fairytale of a flying fish. The assets embody the spirit of Merz though their unconventional art style revolving around paper/origami objects photographed and made into digital assets. The user takes on the role of the flying fish, following on screen queues to launch them self from the water and discover the story in the sky.

TOKYO:OCEAN
AVANT-GARDE
FILMS FESTIVAL
+ Motion Graphics + Avant-Garde
+ Experimental Imagery
A one minute promotional video to advertise an avant-garde films month at gallery, performance space and cafe in Hoxton, London: tokyo:ocean. The processes in the video are deliberately designed to draw on the concepts behind avant-garde films; in this case referencing the works of Norman Mclaren and John Whitney amongst others, who create work in an semi spontaneous, experimental manner. To translate this, I used an app on my phone that reads camera input and calculates three tones of colour as sound in real time. Parameters can be altered to change the synthetic wave sound, arpeggiate the output and change the note of colour to give them a distinct response. In this way, the sound is a response to the imagery with little control, creating a soundtrack of an experimental, generative nature to compliment the abstract visuals. The tokyo:ocean logo top and tails the animation to form a loop, whilst the second to last screen delivers the message of a film festival coming soon with all the relevant details.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
YOUR WORD NOT
YOUR WALLET
+ Motion Graphics + D&AD
+ Social Media Campaign
A series of social media sized posters and a short explanatory video, designed to be used in conjunction with each other. The over arching brief issued by D&AD called for a 'multimedia campaign' reinforcing the organisation's manifesto of 'Taking Injustice Personally', with a target market of 18-25 year olds in mind.
The campaign functions to expand upon who Amnesty International are, what they do and state their desire for action opposed to solely donations. Due to the width and breadth of the organisation's involvements, I chose to illustrate five key areas of action, posted as stills and within the short video.

GLAS: SHARDS
+ Animated Album Art
+ Logo Design + Electronic Music
Logo and animated album cover for electronic music producer ‘glas’ and his EP ‘shards’. By name, glas is a stylisation of ‘glass’; embodied musically in the form of cold, smooth and gentle tones. I aimed to further capitalise on these themes, conceptualising the logo around characteristically transparent, thin and fragile but often elegant and sculpted qualities of glass objects. Thematically, this evolved into fine, geometric characters combined with a flowing, clean aesthetic.
Shards, of course, is strategically titled to form a as part of a planned series of glass related phrases. In this instance, I wanted to play with the idea of reflection and shard imagery, stripped down to it’s most minimalistic forms. The shards are represented by triangles, configured as if they were once connected and now shattered. Gentle gradients simulate reflection, whilst the characters of the album title each sit on their own wedge, further emphasising the idea of separation. The cover was later animated to a looping clip from the track ‘Stained’, composed of gradients rhythmically traveling as if clouds are being reflected above them.
